Skills training in organic, certification and processing creates employment for youth within the organic agriculture Farm-to-Table value chain
CETDEM and SGP-GEF will sponsor and conduct free training for youth on organic farming.

Agriculture sector is one of the major contributors to the economy and livelihood of the people.
Agriculture practices impact the conservation of biodiversity and increase pressure on soil degradation and climate change.
One option is the use of organic farming to reduce negative impact.

The training course intends to build the capacity of youth in Malaysia to involve in the organic farming and create more sustainable employment/livelihood in the long run. Organic farming is already well practiced in Malaysia and the awareness of the consumers on these produces and the benefits are also increasing and has great potential in future.

The training course will encourage employment of the youth in sustainable agriculture by providing skills training and relevant practical training on organic farming. The approach is to expose these youth to the technic and practice of organic farming, certification, processing, marketing and networking with other farmers, retailers and consumers.

Our aim is to produce trained youth who will embark in the organic farming industry in all of its supply chain, i.e., farm to table. projects aim is to create interest and livelihood for youth in organic agriculture through a value chain approach.

CETDEM office and farm sites in Greater Klang Valley/CH/

Who?

Training providers: CETDEM and professionals in the organic farming business.

Participants: Youth between the age of 18 – 45 years.

How?

Class room and hands-on training – on farms and retail.

When?

May 2021 – December 2021
